KNUST Geographer Partners With Others To Develop and Launch myTroski Mobile App
KNUST geographer, Dr. Gift Dumedah has led the development of myTroski mobile app to facilitate finding places of interest and planning your travel in Akan or English. He partnered with Professor Charles Marfo of the Department of Communication Sciences and the Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dr. Samuel Ato Andam-Akorful of the Department of Geomatic Engineering. The location-based services app, myTroski can be used to visualize places of interest and explore information about services in your local area of Oforikrom Municipality. When travelling, myTroski can guide you with a digital map, a real-time location indicator (GPS), together with a message in writing or audio (voice) using Akan (Twi) or English. It works in both offline and online modes. Speaking at the official launch of myTroski on Thursday 24th February 2022 at the KNUST, Kumasi the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ellis Owusu-Dabo who was represented by Prof. Charles Marfo, Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, indicated that myTroski would benefit businesses, schools, public transport users, security services, fire service, municipal revenue collection, national disaster management organization, Ghana Police service, and the Municipal authority. The launch was attended by several stakeholders including the representatives of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Progressive Transport Owners' Association (PROTOA), National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Department of Urban Roads (DUR), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Ghana Police Service, KNUST Security services, Bolt, The Chief of Boadi, UBA Bank, CAL Bank, Maptech, among others.
